Created in 1989, The Line Between stands as one of Linden Harrow’s most iconic early explorations of the vessel as both functional form and conceptual object. Hand-thrown from locally sourced stoneware, the piece was reduction-fired to achieve a surface alive with subtle tonal variations—deep moss greens fading into warm umber and soft grey, reminiscent of weathered rock faces. Around the vessel’s midsection, a single 14k gold chain encircles the form, joined by a custom-fabricated clasp. The chain is not purely ornamental; it creates a visual and symbolic bind, holding the earthen form in a suspended state between freedom and restraint. The interplay of permanence (stoneware) and fragility (gold) speaks to Harrow’s enduring interest in the tension between the natural world and human intervention.
