Welded steel, recycled chrome

This very large black bear skull is intended to depict a realistic specimen of an animal that is increasingly coming into conflict with human development, particularly in our area during late spring. Annually, there are more and more incidents of black bears wandering into south Eugene neighborhoods as they emerge from hibernation and search for food. Using reflective chrome, my artistic intent is to cause the viewer to see themselves in this symbol of the black bear’s mortality.
