Hummingbirds are plentiful in Oregon's Willamette Valley, and some stay year-round. They seem to be magical creatures, zooming in and out of our focus with such speed that it can be hard to meet them eye to eye. When one pauses long enough to do so, it is a gift to be able to study their glorious presence. And when they seem to return that curiosity and study us as well, it reminds us to slow down, breathe and be a part of our natural world.
