This is the first in the ongoing series made from my journalling sketches of a single plant through six months of the 2020-21 pandemic. This semi-abstract piece is in a favourite palette of mine built around 'holo lilac'. This colour came to represent new life after depressingly dark times. The work also means a lot to me as it was the first attempt at what I would come to call 'abstract line' pieces. I used the precision of vector art to abstract away the shapes of the original sketch and create what felt like an essence of the plant in a new form. I found this both fun and illuminating as a process and hence 'Plant Series 1: Abstract Line Cavendish' was born.
