“Trying something new” in this instance is to boil my work down to simpler elements. In my most grandiose of paintings, a figure like this may not necessarily be the central figure, and more often than not finds itself in the background fighting for your attention. Placed in the front and centre with nothing to hide behind, is a zany blind man is presented with a snivelling little grin, suggesting he is up to no good. Perhaps this man is trying something new himself…
