Statement
Originality is what I strive for in all of my artistic pursuits, to do it in a way that has never been done before.
I believe that in order to truly be original, one must pull inspiration from a great number of source. I paint both what I see around me, and what I feel internally, reflecting on where I am in life at that time. Painting for me has become an introspective journal, but rather than writing down my thoughts and feelings on paper, I express them through colours and patterns. I paint what I like while keeping an open mind to new possibilities, such as experimenting with new techniques/mediums, researching various schools of thought, and travelling the world. These all bring something new to the next painting I create.
At its very core, I follow the Taoist principle of "Wu-Wei" in both my work and my way of life. The act of "Non-doing" is something we can see all around us in nature and society. To organically flow without forcing anything, to let the paint brush do all the work for your subconscious, to be in a state of balance and harmony with the world. That, above all else is what I try to capture in all of my works.
