Retribution

I give to you Retribution.
In this case, it is about personal triumph. Recognizing there is something not right is the first step towards improvement.
The 3 blind men most prominent have difficult to read expressions, and are in fact reflections of myself during this piece’s timeline. I was personally going through many difficult feelings at the time of creating this piece, and this was my outlet to try to make sense of the turmoil I was mentally finding myself trudging through at the time.
I like to describe February as the “Longest month of the year, disguised as the shortest.” Cold, grey days with dark eerily silent nights, the clock ticks by a half second slower than most months for me. Like anything though, beauty can be found in the darkest creases of despair, and it is in those places of desolation we find retribution. This piece is about reflecting on one’s darker self, acknowledging its existence and shining light on it to stamp it out.
