The Gateway International Painting Competition is an online, monthly and annual juried painting competition open to all artists world wide over 18 years old. Cash prizes are awarded each month to Best in Show winners while certificates and free promoted entries are awarded to all Finalists, including Best in Show. All painting media is accepted, including but not limited to oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, ink, and mixed media.

Professional master artist judges provide written critiques for each Finalist painting. There are three categories of entry: Representational, Abstract, and Novice/For the Love of Painting. There are two new judges each month, one who works in representational to judge representational paintings; one who works in abstract to judge abstract paintings.

Monthly Finalists and Best in Show winners are announced on or after the 20th of the following month. Finalists from all months of the competition contend for Annual Grand Prizes awarded in August.
