2021 Craft Research Fund - Artist Fellowship

The purpose of the Craft Research Fund - Artist Fellowship is to advance, expand, and support the creation of new research and knowledge through craft practice. Awards will be granted to two artists to support research projects relating to the goals of the Craft Research Fund - Artist Fellowship. 

WHO: Craft artists

AMOUNT: $20,000 

DEADLINE: October 1, 2020

FINE PRINT: At the end of the grant period Fellows will present their new body of work in an exhibition at the Center for Craft as well as present their research methodologies and findings in the Center for Craft’s symposium. Entry fee: $15. Learn more here.

 

Craft Research Fund Project Grant

The Craft Research Fund - Project grant is one of four categories that make up the Craft Research Fund, a visionary program dedicated to supporting scholarly craft research in the United States. Since 2005 the Center annually grants $95,000 to academic researchers, independent scholars, curators, and graduate students writing, revising, and reclaiming the history of craft.

AMOUNT: Up to $15,000

Craft Research Fund Graduate Grant

Grants awarded to currently enrolled master’s students pursuing thesis research related to U.S. craft history or theory. The graduate grant is one of three categories that make up the Craft Research Fund, a visionary program dedicated to supporting scholarly craft research in United States.

AMOUNT: Up to $5,000

Craft Research Fund Exhibition Grant

The Craft Research Fund - Exhibition grant is one of four categories that make up the Craft Research Fund. These grants aim to support exhibition research that encourages, expands, and supports scholarly craft research in the United States.

AMOUNT: Up to $15,000

DEADLINE: October 1, 2020

The Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Grant

The Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Grant is a prize sponsored by the National Sculpture Society. It is awarded annually to a sculptor who has demonstrated outstanding ability as a sculptor and who has created a body of work inspired by nature which includes works of sculpture in bas-relief and in the round. The grant will be awarded in June 2021.

WHO: Sculptors in the U.S.

AMOUNT: $5,000

DEADLINE: October 5, 2020

FINE PRINT: The Bleifeld Grant is for a mature body of work; sculpture created in workshop or instructional settings should not be submitted. Applicants cannot be elected members of the National Sculpture Society. Submission Materials: Images of 11 to 15 works of sculpture. At least two of the works must be bas-reliefs. Alex J. Ettl Grant

The Alex J. Ettl Grant is a prize sponsored by the National Sculpture Society. It is awarded annually to a figurative or realist sculptor who has demonstrated a commitment to sculpting and outstanding ability in his or her body of work. The grant will be awarded in June 2021.

WHO: Sculptors in the U.S.

AMOUNT: $5,000

DEADLINE: October 5, 2020

Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant

The Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant is a prize for a sculptor, specializing in animal sculpture, who has demonstrated a commitment to sculpting and outstanding ability in his or her body of work. The grant will be awarded in June 2021.

WHO: Sculptors in the U.S.

AMOUNT: $5,000

DEADLINE: October 5, 2020

FINE PRINT: Applicants cannot be elected members of the National Sculpture Society. The grant is for a mature body of work; sculpture created in workshop or instructional settings should not be submitted. Learn more here.

 

Artist Grant

Artist Grant provides a $500 USD grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. We also award 2nd and 3rd place runners-up with $100 USD each. We do not require proposals or any indication of how you will use the funds. There are four grant cycles per year.

AMOUNT: $500

DEADLINE: October 15, 2020

FINE PRINT: Once an artist wins a grant, they may not apply again. Runners-up may apply again in a future grant cycle. An application fee of $25 USD helps defray costs of administering this grant so we can continue to support and fund artists' important work. Learn more here.

 

Artadia Awards: Atlanta

Artadia is a national non-profit organization that supports visual artists with unrestricted, merit-based awards and fosters connections to a network of opportunities. In the past 18 years, Artadia has awarded over $3 million to more than 300 artists throughout its participating award cities of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.

WHO: Artists based in the current award city of Atlanta

AMOUNT: Two artists will be selected to receive an unrestricted Artadia Award of $10,000

DEADLINE: October 15, 2020

Rising Voices: The Bennett Prize for Women Figurative Realist Painters

The Bennett Prize is a stipend/grant-in-aid program established by American art collectors Steven Alan Bennett and Dr. Elaine Melotti Schmidt to support the fine art practice of a woman painter working in figurative realism. The Bennett Prize, administered by The Pittsburgh Foundation, is awarded biennially and provides $25,000 annually over two consecutive years to the winning artist. Ten finalists will be selected to participate in a traveling exhibition organized by the Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA) and the winner will be showcased in a solo exhibition at the close of her grant.

WHO: Women 18 years or older, residing at least part time in the United States (50 States and Washington, D.C.) whose primary practice is the creation of original paintings in the genre of figurative realism

AMOUNT: $25,000

EXHIBITION DATES: May 27, 2021 - September 5, 2021

DEADLINE: October 16, 2020

FINE PRINT: Paintings must depict representational images of one or more figures of any gender. Figures may be clothed or nude and do not need to be photorealistic. Each artist may submit up to five paintings for consideration by jurors. Entry fee: $25. Learn more here.

 

ING Discerning Eye

The ING Discerning Eye is an annual show of small works renowned for both its commitment to championing emerging artists and its unique curatorial approach. The exhibition’s new format in 2020 gives artists the opportunity to showcase their work in a virtual gallery and win a range of prizes, including the ING Purchase Prize worth £5,000, as well as specific medium and regional awards.

5th Annual Waterscapes Art Competition

Fusion Art invites submissions for an online exhibition during the month of October 2020. For this competition, both 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are invited to submit their best art depicting waterscapes including the ocean, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, coastal living, ocean activities, seaside vistas, beaches, and any related seashore or lakeside subjects.

The artless Bastard gallery is seeking 2D and 3D artwork for the group show titled, The 7 Deadly Sins. All work submitted needs to include one or more of the sins within their theme or subject matter. These are: lust, greed, gluttony, wrath, sloth, pride and envy.

Paperworks VII

The Foundry Art Centre is seeking submissions for “Paperworks VII” a paper-centered exhibition focusing on how paper can be expressed in art. Last held at the Foundry in 2013, this juried exhibition is open to all artists who utilize paper as an integral component of expression. We want to ask all artists how they push this ancient, tactile experience of making paper into making book arts, sculptures, and other forms of fine art.

7th Annual 2020 “ALL Animal” Art Competition & Exhibition

In this call from Contemporary Art Gallery Online, artists should submit their best representational and non-representational art related to the "ALL Animal" theme. The “ALL Animal” theme is considered to be any art that depicts domestic animals, wild animals, birds, sea creatures, fish, mammals, etc. A group exhibition of all entrants will be held online at the Contemporary Art Gallery Online for thirty days immediately following the close of the competition.

30 pieces in 30 days! The 30×30 show is a great way to explore any theme or style by creating one panel that displays 30 works that are 6 inches by 6 inches each, or 3-dimensional work that is no bigger than 6 x 6 x 6 inches. Use the 30-day work period restraint to challenge yourself to create constantly.

State of the Art Gallery 10th Annual Juried Show Will Now be On-Line

For many years, the Ithaca State of the Art Gallery has been proud to host a juried exhibit of work by regional artists during the month of December. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, we have decided to forego the in-gallery exhibit and opt for an online-only version this year and to open the show eligibility to all artists living in the USA.

Transformations 2020

The TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition, one of the largest shows anywhere dedicated to the transformative vision and skills of photographers who freely express their creativity by whatever means they choose, is back for its 5th year! Things are a bit different this year (what isn’t) and this year’s show will be all digital and will be presented on-line, but the principle is the same… If you have been rejected from other shows or your work questioned because you use textures, composites, filters, or any of the other wonderful tools available to create your own vision, then you have found your home!

We the People

Carlisle Arts Learning Center wishes to create and share with our community an exhibit deeply inspired by the right of justice and equality by all the peoples of our land.  The preamble to the U. S. Constitution, while not a law upon itself, is a purposeful 52 words which is meant to guide the who, what, and why of the establishment of this great democracy. CALC’s jury committee will carefully curate this exhibit to share many expressions of these ideas.

Wintertide Light Art Experience

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center seeks proposals for temporary or permanent light-based installations and artworks for installation in Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park. The selected works will be exhibited alongside more than 100 existing sculptures throughout 5 acres of forested parkland, transforming the park with light and color through the darkest months of the year.

Arts Center East is kicking off the holiday season with Tables & Toasts: Food, Drink & Merriment. This exhibit celebrates gatherings and all the preparation that goes into making them happen, from the bustle in the kitchen to the clink of glasses in the dining room. Monterey Peninsula College Art Gallery is reviewing exhibition proposals for exhibits in the 2021-2022 academic year. Dea Studios invites artists of any discipline, writers, and preachers to participate in the InBreak Residency, a collaborative virtual process that will enable participants to collectively explore themes of art, faith, and race in the United States. Over the course of three months, residents will engage in a program that includes selected viewings, readings, and dialogue prompts. The residency will culminate in a live or virtual event, a series of virtual exhibitions, and publication possibilities.

FINE PRINT: Residency participants are expected to attend all cohort dates, to actively contribute to the collective dialogue on the themes presented, and to submit completed work by the end of the residency. The residency comes with a project stipend. Learn more here.
