2019 Winter Spring Residencies at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts

What: A residency opportunity provided by Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts. Awarded residencies are based on overall application, availability, and the applicant’s ranking in jury process. Selected artists will receive housing, most meals, exclusive studio access and use of the library, lounge and kitchen, which are all nestled in a meadow along the riparian corridor of Brush Creek.

Who: Artists worldwide, 18 and over (English language skills required)

Application Deadline: September 1

Residency Dates: 3 weeks in January – May, 2019

Location: Saratoga, WY

Fee: $40

Fine Print: Artists are asked to provide 10 - 20 images or a short video, a CV or resume, an artist statement and description of your project; and two individuals capable of providing a character reference to be submitted with your application. Learn more here.

 

Firehouse Art Center 2019 Call for Artists

What: The Firehouse Art Center is Longmont’s leading contemporary art center featuring both national and local artists. Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals from established and emerging artists in all mediums.

Who: Artists working in all media

Application Deadline: September 1

Location: Longmont, CO

Fee: $30

Fine Print: Several artists’ work may be combined into one exhibition. Preference is given to submissions that are culturally relevant with a unique perspective and the ability to provide a diverse art experience. Learn more here.

 

Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2019 National Portrait Gallery

What: The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery invites artists to submit one portrait in any media for consideration in the fifth triennial Portrait Competition. This year, the focus is on broadening the definition of portraiture and highlighting the genre’s relevance in contemporary art. All media accepted.

Who: Artists 18 and older residing in the U.S.

Application Deadline: September 3

Exhibition Dates: November 2019 - September 2020

Location: Washington, DC

Fee: $50 for 1 work

Fine Print: Paintings, drawings, photographs, and other works on paper should be framed (strip frames on paintings are acceptable). Works must be completed after January 1, 2016. Learn more here.

 

State of the Arts 2018

What: State of The Arts 2018 is the R.G. Endres Gallery 12th annual juried competition held every October.

Who: All artists, 18 and over

Application Deadline: September 4

Exhibition Dates: October 1 -31, 2018

Awards Reception: October 12

Location: Prairie Village, KS

Fee: $40 for 1 to 3 entries

Fine Print: 2D & 3D Artwork of any media, except for photography, is acceptable. Artwork must be original, not more than 2 years old, and not done in a class or under supervision of another artist. Learn more here.

 

A Single Grain of Rice Contest & Show

What: The exhibition “A Single Grain of Rice”invites artists to rediscover the universe through works of art of small size.

Who: International artists

Application Deadline: September 15

Exhibition Dates: December 19, 2018 - January 6, 2019

Location: Paris, France

Fee: 70€

Fine Print: Submission categories include: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture. The eight artists who receive the most votes from the jury will be offered a group exhibition. Learn more here.

 

“Surfaces” Exhibition

What: A group exhibition from LoosenArt with the theme “Surfaces,” referring to the space that delimits, separates and at the same time brings into contact what is inside and outside of any physical material object.

Who: Artists worldwide

Application Deadline: September 15

Exhibition Dates: December 2018

Location: Rome, Italy

Fee: None

Fine Print: Artists are invited to submit 1 to 3 artworks addressing the theme. Learn more here.

 

2018 International Juried Exhibition

What: An exhibition hosted by The Center for Contemporary Art for works in all media.

Who: Artists, 18 and older

Application Deadline: September 16

Exhibition Dates: November 8 – December 22, 2018

Opening Reception: November 8, 6-8 PM

Location: Bedminster, NJ

Fee: $35 for up to 3 works ($25 for members)

Fine Print: All artwork is insured for its declared value from the time it is received through January 5, 2019. Artists are responsible for insuring artwork during transit. Learn more here.

 

Princeton Arts Fellowship

What: The Princeton Arts Fellowships will be awarded to artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching. Fellows will spend two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) at Princeton University and formal teaching is expected.

Who: Early career artists worldwide

Application Deadline: September 18

Location: Princeton, NJ

Award: A stipend of $81,000 a year

Fine Print: All applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, a personal statement of 500 words about how you would hope to use the two years of the fellowship at this moment in your career, and contact information for three references. The Hodder Fellowship

What: The Hodder Fellowship will be given to artists and writers of exceptional promise to pursue independent projects at Princeton University during the academic year. Potential Hodder Fellows are artists who have “much more than ordinary intellectual and literary gifts”; they are selected more “for promise than for performance.” Hodder Fellows spend an academic year at Princeton, but no formal teaching is involved.

Who: Artists worldwide

Application Deadline: September 18

Location: Princeton, NJ

Award: A stipend of $81,000

Fine Print: Visual artists should provide up to 20 still images organized into a single PDF file to submit as part of their online application, as well as a resume and project proposal of 500 words. Learn more here.

 

Call for Art - Natural Homes: Nests, Burrows, Caves & Trees

What: A juried exhibition hosted by View Arts centering around the theme of “Natural Homes: Nests, Burrows, Caves & Trees.”

Who: Artists, age 18 and up, working in all media

Application Deadline: September 22

Exhibition Dates: October 27, 2018 - March 10, 2019

Opening Reception: November 30, 5-7 PM

Location: Old Forge, NY

Fee: $30 (or $25 for members) for up to 2 works, $10 for each additional image, up to 5 works total

Fine Print: Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Learn more here.

 

Center for Photographic Art - 2018 International Juried Exhibition

What: The Center for Photographic Art (CPA) is pleased to announce the 2018 International Juried Exhibition. This year they are offering $6,000 in awards. Forty-five juror-selected photographs will be exhibited in CPA’s historic gallery at Sunset Center in Carmel, California.

Who: Photographers worldwide, 18 and older, working in all still photographic media

Application Deadline: September 23

Exhibition Dates: November 10 - December 22, 2018

Opening Reception: November 10

Location: Carmel, CA

Fee: $160 for 3 images ($110 for members)

Fine Print: Name, contact information, titles, process, dates and sales prices are required with submission. "Untitled" is not allowed. Learn more here.

 

Landscape: Real and Imagined

What: Landscape posits the challenge of how we imagine, view and engage with the world around us. This exhibition by Site:Brooklyn seeks to show how contemporary artists take up this challenge.

Who: Landscape artists worldwide

Application Deadline: September 25

Exhibition Dates: November 9 –December 15, 2018

Opening Reception: November 16, 6-9 PM

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Fee: $35 for 3 images, $10 for each additional image

Fine Print: A completed application consists of the following information and files: Name, Contact Information, Images, and Text Descriptors for each image, which must include Title, Year Completed, Medium & Dimensions. Learn more here.

 

Art Biz Mastermind Workshop

What: A 2-day art business workshop hosted by the fabulous Alyson Stanfield of Art Biz Coach. She shines the spotlight on your business in a masterminding, small-group format. And, it’s different from a class because you bring the agenda and Alyson teaches around what you need.

Who: Artists worldwide (who are serious about their art career)

Application Deadline: September 27

Workshop Dates: October 8 - 9, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Location: Golden, CO

Fee: $497

6th Annual International Juried Print Exhibition

What: Remarque/New Grounds Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers from around the world to submit work for their 6th Annual International Juried Print Exhibition. The exhibition aims to present a collection of innovative prints featuring themes and techniques from all traditions of printmaking.

Who: Printmakers

Application Deadline: September 28

Exhibition Dates: December 7, 2018 - January 27, 2019

Location: Albuquerque, NM

Fee: $30 for up to 5 prints

Fine Print: Submissions must be original, two-dimensional, traditional printmaking techniques, or a combination of printmaking techniques, created within the last 3 years. Learn more here.

 

Figureworks 2018 Call For Artists

What: Figureworks is an annual juried art prize and celebration of the art of the human form. Accepting figurative works in all media.

Who: Artists worldwide

Application Deadline: September 30

Exhibition Dates: November 21 - December 2, 2018

Show Preview: November 21, 6-10 PM

Location: Ottawa, Canada

Fee: $45 for 1 work, $65 for 2 works
