I confess I really like painting autumn foliage painting. I can't imagine ever tiring of it. Luckily I live in a place that provides endless opportunity. You may recognize this piece in relation to some other works sharing the same location, Belvidere Pond. This is another in a series of paintings all inspired by two mornings in Autumn at this location. It was dawn and the foliage was right around peak color. This contemplative work tries to capture that brief period at the start of the day as the world awaken and starts to stir. The loon is both literal and symbolic of each of us as we greet the start of a new day.
