When I think of Vermont I think of foliage, farms, barns, maple syrup, snow, covered bridges, rivers and streams. This piece ticks a lot of the boxes that make my home state so dear to me. This particular farm is just below the border with Canada and I was questioned by the border patrol while I was out looking for the best angles to paint this scene. The rural nature of the location adds to the mystique, knowing fewer people have seen this beautiful spot than most of the more well-known locations. Paintings that reveal new, beautiful views to an audience and getting to share an appreciation for these wonderful places is a very big reason why I paint. By sharing my adoration of our beautiful state I hope to also instill a desire to protect and preserve that which makes it so unique.
