My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageA photograph of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building is partially obscured by white panels, spray paint, and a paint roller suspended within the frame. The work references the Trump administration’s proposal to paint the building’s historic gray granite exterior white, transforming a preservation debate into a broader metaphor for historical erasure.
As the administration seeks to whitewash not only architecture but also public memory, education, and the historical record, white becomes both color and action, a gesture of concealment. The work asks what is lost when complexity, conflict, and accountability are covered over in pursuit of a cleaner, more controllable narrative.
