My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageThis sculpture, Unmarked, confronts how bodies are inscribed with gendered meaning and the violence embedded in that process. Three standing figures have severed their breasts, passing them forward to the first figure whose arms stretch outward, holding what has been cut away. At the end, the male figure clings desperately to these remnants—a futile attempt to preserve the idea of "woman" as a fixed, knowable construct that he has created. The work speaks to freedom, independence, and the relentless struggle to unmake imposed identities.
