My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageThis sculpture questions the rigidity of binary gender norms. As Judith Butler proposes, gender is not inherent but performative, sustained through repeated acts that normalize "male" and "female" as fixed categories. The figure here disrupts this binary, combining male and female characteristics, destabilizing traditional boundaries. By asking, “What if Queer becomes a performative act?” the work suggests that queerness, like gender, can be enacted, repeated, and embodied—opening space for fluid, transformative identities that refuse containment by binary frameworks.
