My art practice challenges social and linguistic constructs in the United States through precisely crafted artworks organized into collections.
MessageThis sculpture embodies Butler’s concept of gender as unmoored from biological determinism. Two intertwined, angular figures defy clear categorization; neither body reads as strictly male or female, masculine or feminine. Their shared, overlapping lines blur boundaries, suggesting how gender slips beyond binaries even when normative sexuality remains unchallenged. The black, linear forms are simultaneously rigid and fluid, pointing to societal frameworks that attempt to fix identity while lived experience resists containment. The figures’ precarious stance reflects the instability of such imposed distinctions, revealing gender as relational, ambiguous, and endlessly reconfigured.
