My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
Message"Fatal Reflection" transforms a simple warning label into an indictment of public failure. The suspended ducks, caught by a cord resembling a snare, evoke both vulnerability and bureaucratic neglect. The stark composition recalls memorial displays, while the empty field below emphasizes absence and loss.
Pointing to the deaths of ducks at Washington, D.C.'s Reflecting Pool after repeated renovation efforts failed to prevent hazardous conditions, the work suggests that even symbolic national landscapes can become sites where poor stewardship turns preventable tragedy into a recurring public spectacle.
