My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageThe work overlays a sanitized architectural diagram with fractured wooden slats, turning the White House ballroom expansion into a study in rupture. The 90,000-square-foot project, announced in July 2025 and built atop the demolished East Wing, becomes a symbol of political excess disguised as protocol. The splintered elements suggest what such grand venues obscure: the cost of remaking space to amplify authority.
The title alludes to reported discussions of expanded underground bunker plans and requests for congressional funding, extending the logic of fortification beneath the surface of public-facing statehood and into the infrastructure of protection and power.
