My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageA toy aircraft breaks through translucent layers of paper, evoking fragility, bureaucracy, and controlled destruction. The work references the deportation plane that departed after court approval under the Alien Enemies Act, recently invoked by Donald Trump to justify action against a “Venezuelan gang.” The tissue-like layers suggest how nationalist rhetoric revives old laws under the guise of protection. Vulnerable materials mirror the precarity of those targeted, while state power descends through language cloaked in solemn duty and fear.
