My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageHostile Environments reflects on the fragility of truth, memory, and education under authoritarian threat. A rolled scroll, bound by tangled black threads and set within a floral frame, symbolizes knowledge present yet silenced—echoing attacks on DEI programs, federal education oversight, and museums preserving marginalized histories. The threads evoke censorship and political coercion, constricting inquiry and access to learning. The floral backdrop suggests cultural memory’s beauty and vulnerability under assault. History hangs precariously, bound but not erased, a quiet defiance waiting to be unfurled.
