Laughing Kookaburras are the largest bird in the Kingfisher family. Whilst not originally from Western Australia, they have become naturalised here. This painting, created with professional watercolour paints on premium 300gsm watercolour paper shows on sitting a Gum tree, a typical scene and a nod to the old song "Kookaburra Sits in the old gum tree"
The name is derived from the aboriginal Wiradjuri name Guuguubarra.
They are carnivorous, eating small rodents, reptiles and birds. They also pair for life and can live up to 20 years.
