The Carnaby's Black Cockatoo is a favourite of mine. An endangered species, I have a special interest in their conservation and I'm very lucky to have them as regular visitors. One of their favourite foods are banksia seeds and the title of this painting references Enid Blyton's fiendish book characters from the childhood classic Snugglepot ans Cuddlepie. The "Big Bad Banksia Men" were multi-eyed bad guys based on banksia cones such as the one being eaten in this painting. Here we see a beautiful cockatoo combating evil!
