Part of the Ollin Yoliztli Calaca Series. Masks created over the duration of 3-4 years. While creating this collection, the artist developed and perfected his own style of painting for the calaca masks.

Ollin Yoliztli is a Phoenix based dance group that performs traditional Mexican Folklore dances. Cultural Coalition has partnered with them for decades, educating the public and keeping Mexican traditions alive within the community.

Calaca mask with off-white painted base. Swirly designs painted primarily in green with blue details near the eyes and nostrils. Outer border of teeth outlined in pink, inner border outlined in purple. Blue and green dots painted around the entire face. Green gem embellishment in between the eyebrows, on the center of the forehead, and the right cheek. Left cheek is missing a gem.
