About the painting:
We were meandering through Vermont and New Hampshire one spring, the kind of easy road trip where the journey itself feels like the destination. When we stopped in Stowe and wandered along the town’s “Quiet Path,” we came upon this view — a soft, winding stream mirroring the gentle curves of the hills beyond. The greens seemed endless, the air still enough to hear your own breath.
I sat and sketched for a while, completely absorbed. There was something about the way the calm lines of the landscape played against the crisp edges of the trees — a quiet harmony between softness and structure.
When I returned to paint it a year later, I could feel that same stillness settle over me again. The memory of that morning, of being fully present in a pocket of peace, reminded me how effortlessly nature can restore balance — if we only stop long enough to notice.
