I had forgotten how the sight of blue lupines along the road on my first trip to Maine made me remember the children's book Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney. I loved the story of the woman who made the world more beautiful by scattering seeds everywhere she traveled before she settled in a little house by the sea. I remember reading the book to my children when they were young and wondering how they'd each make the world more beautiful. What promising futures our children have!
