The textured surface I applied to this canvas directed the sweeping lines and openings of the composition as well as the suggestion of flowers blooming along the edges. It was organic the way they seemed to grow from my brushes and palette knives and take on meaning. I'd just completed another painting Sowing The Seeds and had been listening to the song by Tears For Fears. It struck me that I was cultivating something hopeful in these images I was painting and that having an open heart and mind can lead to sharing that golden glow of compassion. That's a beautiful goal to aim for.
