Be With Me grew out of an afternoon hike where everything slowed down enough to feel clear. I remember stopping without any need to move on — the smell of pine, the sound of a western jay in the trees, warm sun settling on my arms. It was the first time I’d seen that bird, and the moment stayed with me.
The painting holds that kind of attention — not a specific place, but the feeling of being fully there. The curves and switchbacks echo the way the body moves through land, how experience unfolds gradually rather than all at once. With my husband beside me, the moment felt complete and unforced.
This work is an invitation to stand still for a while — to be present with what’s around you, and to remember how simple and expansive that can feel.
