Agony in the Garden illustrates the poignant moments prior to Christ's arrest by the Roman's when he was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane with three of his disciples. He prayed thrice, checking on the three apostles between each prayer and finding them asleep. He commented: "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak". An angel came from heaven to strengthen him. During his agony as he prayed, "His sweat was, as it were, great drops of blood falling down upon the ground."Woman with blue face and arms wearing various colorful patterns covering her face. She is sitting next to a group of trees with pink and purple blossoms. Someone, also wearing various colorful patterns, is sitting on a rock near her. They are both in front of a multicolored sun. Painting wraps around the frame.
