Poe Paddy State Park was another new destination for me. We hiked across the bridge over Penns Creek, entered the 250-foot long Poe Paddy tunnel, emerged on the other side in Mifflin County, visited with some anglers where Penns Creek looped back around, and continued along the rail trail towards the Mid-State Trail before heading back the way we came.
I was drawn to this view of the tunnel as we ventured back to the Centre County side, dodging an extended family enjoying the day on a fleet of bicycles. We all had to chuckle at the young girl secured to her daddy’s back with just her arms around his neck and her bare feet wedged into the back pockets of his jeans.
