Sustainability has always been a topic that mattered to me.
A lot of resources go into the materials, whether it's cotton or wood, but also energy and human labor. So for this series, I stitched together small canvas leftovers to create larger pieces. Just by combining different materials and sewing them with bold, sometimes colorful seams, something very special emerges.
When I started painting, flowers or flower-like shapes began to appear (reminded me of those in "ARMADA TO THE LAND OF FLOWERS"..) which I picked up on and consciously continued. That’s how intention and creative process came together and the series "SOW WHAT?" was born.
I chose the title because it refers to both: sustainability and the flowers (which symbolically stand for humanity, a positive outlook on life, and values). It’s about what we do and sow, and what we leave behind for future generations.
