"BLUMENWIESE" (Flower Meadow) has been quite a journey. I started with the application of bright yellow, flower-like forms, then applied the first layers of paint directly by hand, a physical and immediate technique I utilize in some of my works and whose intimacy and immediacy I love.
Some paintings, however, develop a vitality and will of their own; they possess a clear vision of their final state. So did "BLUMENWIESE": it organically separated itself from my original idea during the painting process, transforming layer by layer. Interestingly, it ended up returning to the original theme of a meadow of flowers, although the flowers were suddenly neon pink instead of yellow.
For me, the particular interest of this painting lies in the visible traces of its creation: the clues to what was originally applied, what was discarded, and what was ultimately rediscovered. These layers allow the viewer to trace the artwork's evolution and lend it a fascinating complexity and visual richness.
What was originally intended as a fresh start during the process now gives the green a subtle dynamism and direction, like growing grass, and the remnants of the yellow flowers complement the new pink ones.
It continues a series of works with the same title that have been created from time to time over the past few years.
