Paintings come from many different sources of inspiration. Sometimes, like this one, they’re simply the result of enjoying the material and immersing myself in a single color.
My love for the material has always played an important role in my painting practice. That’s why this piece was created mostly with my hands, without using brushes or other tools. I only used them in the later stages to round off the composition.
Blue is the color of the sky and water, the source of life. In color psychology, blue stands for calm, trust and stability. In a nearly monochromatic work, it becomes even more interesting to explore the color and its possible contrasts: shape meets line, color meets non-color, light meets dark.
I started two works in parallel this way. During the process, both developed into independent pieces, even though they could definitely be shown together (see the pic of both together in the studio and in interior).
