Big canvas, bare hands, bold energy. As raw as it gets.
This painting reminds me of that subtle moment when softness and strength appear in the same breath — like a bloom that opens gently but carries its own quiet armor.
SOFT BLOOM, SHARP ARMOR grew out of a very physical, intuitive process. I worked almost entirely with my hands on raw canvas — big movements, direct contact, no tools in between. The paint responded immediately: shifting, layering, leaving visual traces of motion and stillness. Pale pinks and rose tones brought a soft luminosity, while deeper greens, oranges, and darker marks added contrast and a sense of grounded energy.
As the layers developed, the surface revealed a visual texture shaped by gesture — transparent washes meeting opaque passages, softness meeting edge. At some point, the association of a cactus blossom appeared to me: delicate petals, sharp contours, sunlit resilience. That tension between vulnerability and strength felt true to the painting, and the title followed naturally.
This large contemporary abstract work carries both openness and intensity. It holds space without overwhelming it, making it a strong fit for modern as well as classical interiors, curated environments, galleries, and collectors who appreciate expressive, hand‑applied abstraction on a grand scale.
Hope you like it as much as I do (and I definitely do...)!
