Presented by Cultural Services Public Art

Transgender Day of Remembrance honors the lives that were lost in the past year to anti-transgender violence, born of ignorance and prejudice. The United States federal government and the City of Eugene observe November 20 as Transgender Day of Remembrance.

This installation invites everyone to join this special observance by honoring and remembering those whose lives have been taken by anti-transgender violence, to work toward eliminating discrimination on all levels and to promote a culture of understanding.

Transgender and gender-diverse people contribute greatly to our community’s rich diversity and prosperity. As stated in the 2022 Transgender Day of Remembrance Proclamation, the City affirms its commitment to ensure diversity, social justice, equity and mutual respect and to support our transgender and gender-diverse community members. In alignment with the City Council’s goals, the City of Eugene is committed to nurturing a community where every person, regardless of identity, is safe, valued and welcome.
