Acrylic, spray paint, salvaged wood panels, vinyl LP records

“Liminal” contains a body of work characterized by exploration. Exploration of the spray paint and stencil medium, a street artists exploration of subjects relevant to current and past events, and an exploration of the pop art genre.

Repeated images are created individually via single-use stencils and laid upon variable backgrounds, resulting in unique works, known as Variable Stencil Editions.

Working primarily as a street artist in the tradition of Richard Hambleton and Banksy, Lambtown42, a self-taught art outsider, has tried to bring this aesthetic to the exhibition while blurring the lines between street art and fine art.

“Liminal” represents this space. The space between the gritty, political, and punk aesthetic of street art and the world of rarefied contemporary art. The frequent use of straight lines in both the stencils and the backgrounds echo this delineation while relating to the limitations and possibilities of the medium.
