Tell Me A
Spoken word
Jorah LaFleur chose a piece that felt reflective of these five themes: everyone belongs, healing, stories of the people, art for everyone and art that tells a story. Her hope is that this piece can serve as a call as well as a response. She would love for it to feel as though it is in conversation with the visual stories being told. And this piece invites the listener towards using their own voice (in whatever form). It’s a piece of art encouraging more art.
Like live performance, public art feels precious and essential. We live in a time of immense access to global art and entertainment online, which is both amazing and isolating. There is no substitute for experiencing creativity live, with all the senses engaged. Witnessing local art together fosters an important sense of community.
