Oil on board

This is a portrait of a wild giant fawn lily. The flower is painted realistically with careful detail in the leaf patterns and forms of the petals and captures some playful light of the forested environment. The flower is painted larger than life; I am currently exploring scale shift in my artwork, which I hope will leave an impression of grandiosity on the viewer. The contrast between a large powerful painting and a dainty wildflower is interesting to me.
