In recent years the visibility, influence and acceptance of those who are LGBTQ+ has steadily grown. But there is still progress to be made and many members of this community don’t realize they already know LGBTQ+ people. Coda’s goal is for the pole banner installation to highlight experiences that are already among the general population, but unrecognized. LGBTQ+ people are all around and we always have been. We are their family. We are their friends. We are their coworkers. We are their neighbors. This series is a gentle reminder that if someone discriminates against us, they are discriminating against their own. We are all connected.

This is a Cultural Currents installation. Cultural Currents is a project of Lane Arts Council and City of Eugene Cultural Services and is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
