This engraving is based on a painting by Brother Jean Andre (1662-1753), who entered the Dominican Order in Paris in 1679. Entitled "Brother Andre Painting Our Lady of the Rosary," the painting is located at the Palace of Versailles. Jean Daullé (1703 – 1763) was "Engraver to the King," and a detailed account of his works is contained in Delignière's Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre gravé de Jean Daullé d' Abbeville, 1872, 8vo. The text below reads, "Meditate on these mysteries, always be occupied with them so that your advancement may be seen by everyone,” 1 Timothy 4: 15. — Paris, at the office of F. Chereau, engraver to the king, rue 5' Jacques, Two Pillars of Gold."
