This poster, along with a second depicting Jesus as a boy, for Franco Zeffirelli’s six-hour miniseries of the Christ story has perhaps taken on greater significance in the culture than the film itself. The film debuted on television in Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States in the weeks leading up to Easter 1977. In the United States, it showed in two installments on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. It has been rebroadcast numerous times since its original debut during Christmas and Easter seasons.
