Charlie Hunter is a cheerful guy who paints drippy portraits of decaying American infrastructure in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
MessageThe bronze California landscape of late summer is always a challenging joy to paint. There were bad fires a few hill ranges over, but even though things seemed awfully dry and the fire danger was rated EXTREME at the nearby ranger station, all felt well and placid at this roadside turnout. In March, 2018, I added a simple blue glaze to the sky, and a bronze glaze to the left foreground to bring out the dimensionality.
