I am always intrigued by the texture of tree bark. This series was inspired by a medallion-like outgrowth on a tree which looked rather like two heads whispering or kissing. This version is the lightest so far with an icy feel as if the bark's texture is cracking open against a slab of ice on the pastel background.

This is from a group 'Heads in Bark' made up of four pieces inspired by a medallion-like outgrowth on a tree which resembled two heads whispering or kissing. This version is the most ethereal of the four as the wood transforms into a completely different substance. I reworked the layers and blend modes until the tracery of texture from the original bark seems to be cracking open against a thick slab of ice on the pastel background. Lovers held forever in a frozen kiss.
