Hennepin Arts has led the "It's the People" public art installation project for about six years. For the 2023-2024 edition, themed "Network of Mutuality," Minnesota-based photographer R.J. Kern created portraits featuring 14 performing artists from the Minnesota Tamil Sangam (MNTS). MNTS plays a vital role in preserving Tamil language, arts, culture, and heritage in Minnesota.

Tamil is an ancient classical language from South Asia, recognized as one of the world's classical languages with an unbroken literary history spanning over 2,000 years. With around 90 million native speakers globally, the Tamil community is widespread. The Tamil diaspora is spread across various countries, including those in Southeast Asia, the Gulf region, Europe, and North America.

This exhibition features R.J. Kern's large-scale photography with interpretation and illustrations by MNTS to enhance viewers' understanding of the art forms showcased.
