Unencumbered, by Minnesota-based artist Rita Kirsch Dungey is a playful excursion into a wonderland of color, organic lines and shapes, texture and movement. As the title suggests, her mixed media collages on birch panels explore working intuitively and with minimal constraints. Combining this more analytically with compositional harmony and balance, she brings fresh energy and a unique visual and emotional experience to the viewer.

Rita’s background in healthcare, healing, and helping others remains a foundation of her artistic practice. After a career in clinical social work in healthcare settings, teaching yoga, and providing Reiki (a form of energy healing), Rita now devotes herself fulltime to her art practice in her Northrup King Building studio in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District.
