The 2024 Craft Archive Fellowship will foster archival research on underrepresented and non-dominant craft histories in the United States.
Proposals are welcome from a range of emerging to established scholars, including artists researchers. Funding is intended to support independent research and is not intended to support research conducted on behalf of an institution, organization, or 501c3.
Archives are repositories for and collections of primary source materials where people can conduct research. However, the histories preserved and stored within institutional libraries and archives often reflect the dominant cultural narratives, limiting the types of histories that can be told. Therefore, this fellowship takes an expansive understanding of what an archive is, to delimit what an archive can be. For the purpose of this grant, the Center for Craft understands archival craft research to be, but not limited to:
Digital and in-person archives: Recipients can direct their research towards a digital or site-specific archive, such as institutional archives that feature underrepresented craft communities. An in-person visit is not required.
Objects as archives, the study of a new collection of materials, such as oral histories, community-created archives, site or place as an archive.
Funding from this grant can be used to visit more than one archive, as funding and time permits. However, engagement with just one archive is all that is expected.

Artists working in all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. Artist collectives, organizations and groups are welcome to submit proposals on a single application. Please clearly list all artists involved.
Artists are encouraged, but not required, to display works for sale. The Arts Center’s commission rate is a 50/50 split with the artists. Arrangements for artists with exclusive gallery commitments are possible.
Exhibitions are selected by the Curator and the The Arts Center Exhibition Committee. TAC’s EC is a group of volunteers made up of professional artists and community members. The EC is asked to review all materials submitted, and select artists who show excellence in medium and concept as well as help meet the mission of TAC.

Our Sea of Islands Exhibition
Exhibition
- Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
In accordance with Hawai‘i Revised Statute 103-8.5, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA), Art in Public Places Program is requesting qualifications from individual artists for artwork to be featured in the Our Sea of Islands art exhibition hosted at Capitol Modern: The Hawai'i State Art Museum. Through this RFQ we intend to establish a qualified pool of professional artists for consideration.
A phrase coined by scholar and cultural practitioner Epeli Hauʻofa, “Our Sea of Islands” is an oft-quoted reference to a redirection in the perspectives of the islands in the Pacific. Rather than considering these islands as an exotic other, Hauʻofa challenged the world to see the Pacific region as a metropolis for engagement of all kinds. We consider the exhibition, Our Sea of Islands, to be one that uses engagement as the cornerstone not only for the resulting presentation of artworks, but also for the very foundation of those pieces or performances from conception to fabrication to manifestation.

CT AIDS Memorial
Public Art & Proposals
- Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
- Award Info: Budget: $75,000-$175,000
- Eligibility: National
- Location: Hartford, Connecticut
The Shawn Lang Memorial Task Force is seeking artist qualifications to create the CT AIDS Memorial monument. The Task Force is named after Shawn Lang, a longtime CT advocate who spent her life fighting injustices.
This monument will serve as a reminder of Shawn Lang’s brand of soul force, the force of love, the force “of resistance.” At rallies at the State Capitol, she would often point to the building and state, “This is your house!” and as crowds left she’d challenge them to “Go out and change the world.”
This public art should serve as motivation for the justice work ahead. It will be a piece that encourages our souls to be stirred as we step into the arena, and into the complex work of confronting the racial/social/political inequities in CT. It is public art for justice.
The CT AIDS Memorial will be an outdoor public art installation that is incorporated within the landscape detailed below. It will be an “evergreen” installation that may include seating features and other interactive elements. The CT AIDS Memorial is meant to be an historic marker to those who have died of AIDS as well as those who continue to live with and work to eliminate HIV. The memorial will be engaging, intentional, empowering, hopeful and an opportunity for meaningful conversation.

St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital Gallery exhibit
Exhibition
- Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
- Eligibility: National
- Categories: Photography, Drawing, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting
- Location: Shawnee, Oklahoma
The MGMoA is looking for potential artists to exhibit at the St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital Gallery for a period of 4 months. The artwork needs to be calming and comforting due to the location of the gallery. More details are at https://www.mgmoa.org/st-anthony/
Exhibiting Your Artwork at the MGMoA Gallery in St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital
The gallery space is just inside the West Entrance, on the North side of the main hallway, connecting the old and new sections of St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital. The hallway is 54 feet long, with about 44 feet of usable display space. Artwork is displayed for 4 months.
The artwork needs to be ready to hang. The MGMoA curator will meet with approved artists to discuss placement and will hang the exhibit. Because it is a hallway, no artwork can interfere with the movement of people in the hallway. The maximum depth of the pieces is 4 inches due to ADA restrictions.
Please keep in mind the wide range of reasons people might be in the hospital; therefore, the artwork needs to be calming and comforting. Artists should avoid shocking, depressive or angry imagery, and images with an abundance of red or black hues.
The MGMoA will fabricate the labels for each exhibit. Approved artists should send the text at least one week before installation. Artists can have an introductory panel as well as individual labels for the artworks. Prices cannot be listed on the labels. There is a brochure holder for brochures or cards that the artist can provide.
The artist is welcome to sell their work; however, it must be kept on the wall until the end of the exhibit. The MGMoA does NOT engage in sales during exhibitions. There will not be a value or sale price indicated on your label. If you are open to selling your artwork, we will be happy to give interested parties your contact information IF you indicate that on your loan agreement.

City of Loveland TAAP 2D 2024 (The Art Advocacy Project)
Public Art & Proposals
- Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
- Award Info: honorarium of $350.00
- Eligibility: State
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting
- Location: Loveland, Colorado
The Art Advocacy Project 2D (commonly known as TAAP 2D) is a one-year on-loan program designed to promote regional artists through the public display of their artworks and provides a means for artwork sales. This project is open to all Colorado artists of two-dimensional media. Selected artworks may be for sale; however, this is not required.
Unique two-dimensional works of art will be showcased in the Loveland Public Library’s Central Galleria in late February 2024. This project is ideal for artists wishing to display their work at any career stage. A wide variety of mediums have been shown through this annual project. Less dominant mediums like fiber, charcoal, mixed media, etc., are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed by a jury panel consisting of Art in Public Places (AIPP) representatives and public volunteers.
Last year’s collaboration with the Loveland Poet Laureate group was so successful that AIPP is doing it again this year. This addition is a poem created specifically in response to the artwork and displayed next to each artwork for the on-loan exhibit at the library. If selected, the artist agrees to work with a poet who will write a poem relating to the artwork chosen. Please note that the selected artist will have a time commitment associated with this project. The artist might be asked to discuss the artwork with a poet (depending on the poet’s creative process). Also, there will be an Artist Talk and Poetry Reading Reception on March 30, 2024, should the selected artist choose to attend.
Selected artworks will be displayed at the Loveland Public Library from late February 2024 until mid to late February 2025. Please do not submit artwork that cannot be available for the entire year.
