The ARMSTRONG NOW Artist-in-Residence program contextualizes Louis Armstrong’s contributions within historical and 21st Century constellations of Black making, thinking, and vitality. The residency provides emerging artists with a platform to create new work inspired by the vast collection of artifacts and documents in the Armstrong Archives.

In 2023, we will award residencies to three artists who will create new multidisciplinary works incorporating music, dance, spoken word, and other visual or performing arts. The new works will be performed for the public at the Museum.

Liberty’s Public Art Sculpture Program is a way to expand a permanent collection of public art by featuring additional pieces that would be on display for a limited period of time. Additional locations for sculptures will be added each year. All work entered must be freestanding and resilient to variant temperatures and outdoor elements as it will be displayed outdoors for long-term public display. Selected artists will receive a $2,000 honorarium as well as public recognition and an opportunity for sales. The City of Liberty has the option to purchase at least one piece of art from the art pieces on display each cycle, which would become a part of the City’s permanent art collection. The purchase price may be up to $20,000.

Made in Colorado is back. In the spirit of the gallery’s historic annual juried Colorado exhibition, “Zip 802,” the Emmanuel resurrected this important tradition in 2018 to include artists from all over the state. Highlighting the diverse and groundbreaking art being made in Colorado, this biannual exhibition celebrates the many creative and insightful artists of the Centennial State. The opening of this year's exhibition will coincide with American Alliance of Museums' (AAM) annual meeting, where thousands of museum professionals from across the country will converge in Denver.

Applications are now available for SVA's Artist Residency Programs—on-campus in New York City and across online platforms, offering artists, designers, and creative thinkers time, space, and a supportive community in which to develop ideas and focus on their artistic direction. Each program offers access to its own unique set of resources and spaces, whether on-campus or online, that have been designed with artists and creative thinkers in mind.

Fire Safe Marin and Marin Center Cultural Services invite artists to submit works of art exploring what it means to adapt to wildfire. Juried selected works will be exhibited at Ember Stomp, an annual Wildfire Prevention Festival at the Civic Center Fairgrounds on May 20, 2023. The art will then be shown at the Marin County Civic Center Gallery from May-August 2023.

The 2023 Bloom Residency is the 3rd annual Artist-In-Residence opportunity at Chicago Printmakers Collaborative (CPC)! Awarded to a woman of color, one applicant will be chosen for this two week, project-based residency, culminating in the creation of a limited edition print with the support of CPC.

The 2023 cycle of the residency will take place between August 13th and August 27th. Applications for the 2023 Bloom Residency are due April 1, 2023. Recipients will be notified no later than May 15.

About the Museum of Outdoor Arts:
MOA is a Colorado based non-profit arts organization. We are known for our large outdoor sculpture collection that is placed in public and semi-public areas throughout Englewood and Greenwood Village, CO. The museum is supported through its ownership of Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, where its sculpture park, Marjorie Park, is located. About the Design and Build Program:
Since 1991, MOA’s Design and Build program has provided an opportunity for young artists, students, and creative minds to express their creativity in collaborative art making projects. Assisted by professional artists, Design and Build participants produce exciting and original site-specific art works for publicly accessible spaces in the Denver metro area. Interns find creative solutions to practical challenges as they master the skills to transform their creative ideas into finished pieces.

The program generates temporary public art/exhibitions and offers lessons in collaborative teamwork, problem-solving, and aesthetic and technical considerations. From concept to installation, students must consider all elements of the public art process, including environmental concern, safety, budgeting, project design, proposal writing, maquette making, construction, installation, and removal. When installed, Design and Build artworks enliven the everyday life of the community.

Job Description:
Collaboratively create artwork(s) for temporary display at The Museum of Outdoor Arts' Marjorie Park location in Greenwood Village, CO. MOA is seeking up to 8 interns for the Summer 2023 program to work under the direction of our professional Artist Fellow and Resource Artist. Participants will have an opportunity to collaboratively create unique and site-specific installations or sculptures for outdoor installation at Marjorie Park. MOA will host an artist reception at the conclusion of the program and the artwork(s) will be on public view through spring of 2024.

From concept development, proposal review, materials procurement, and timeline and budget management, to creation and installation, this immersive 8-week program will provide interns the opportunity to participate completely in the art making process. All materials and tools will be provided. Open to undergrads, graduate bound and emerging artists (recent graduates within 1 year of graduation are eligible to apply).

The Summer 2023 Design and Build internship program is taking place at our partner site located at the Sculpture Lab of the College of Arts & Media on the campus of the University of Colorado Denver in Downtown Denver. Applicants are not required to attend CU Denver to apply as the program accepts applications from any student or recent grad within the US. The program will operate beginning June 14, 2023 and conclude August 5, 2023 (8 weeks total). Work hours are M-F, 9:30am-5pm.

Housing is NOT provided; however, a limited supply of reduced cost, on-campus housing is open to participating interns through the campus department of housing, subject to availability. Participants must arrange their own housing.

The 21st Uptown Arts Stroll/Paseo de las Artes is a hybrid of in-person & virtual programming in June 2023 from West 135th to West 220th Street in West Harlem, Washington Heights & Inwood. The Uptown Arts Stroll started as a volunteer organized one-day event the Sunday before Thanksgiving 2003 and grew into a month-long festival celebrating northern Manhattan’s visual and performing artists. The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) has produced the Uptown Arts Stroll since 2008.

The Armory Art Center invites artists to apply to the Armory’s Artist-in-Residence Program. This highly competitive program attracts a diverse group of emerging artists within varied disciplines who have earned at least a BFA. Artists-in-Residence are responsible for teaching classes to our diverse student/community where they have the opportunity to refine their skills teaching workshops and eight-week classes. They also participate in special events. The Armory provides a studio space which offers freedom to develop their own work. Artists-in-Residence have the opportunity to exhibit work they have created during their residency. Residents are paid for teaching and also receive a generous monthly stipend for departmental assistance and participation in extracurricular events in the community.

The mission of this grant is to promote public awareness of and a commitment to American art, and to encourage interest in painters who lack adequate recognition.

Recipients are selected by a diverse group of jurors—artists, curators, professors, writers—based on the strength of the materials submitted in this application as well as the perceived adherence to the spirit of the grant: to assist under recognized artists. Awards include a cash grant, ranging from $5,000 to $36,000 and an exhibition at PAAM.

The late Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed studied with Hans Hofmann in both New York and Provincetown. They were very active at PAAM as artist members and instructors in the summer school, and they served on a variety of committees throughout their 50 years on Cape Cod. Orlowsky, in particular, was sensitive to the challenges artists face, especially those working against the mainstream or outside of popular schools of art. Her desire to provide financial support to mature artists through this generous endowment gift speaks to her passionate commitment to art for art’s sake and art created regardless of the demands and whims of the marketplace.

Our Programming Fellow works alongside our Director of Artistic Programming on our exhibitions, artist residency program, summer and winter benefits, and public programming — including our annual Haunted Mill in October, summer block parties, and other seasonal events. Our Programming Fellow also helps evaluate our existing programming and workshop new programs. We expect our programming to continue to grow in the next few years, and we’re always looking refine the ways we already support our artists and community. Preference will be given to those with experience in exhibitions and/or programming and who have an artistic practice (visual or otherwise) of their own. The IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund provides production funds for feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, telling contemporary-relevant stories, and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the needs of the project. Inclusion and diversity with regard to the filmmaking team, subject matter, and geography are a priority of the fund.

Each summer Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s 6x6 exhibition brings together thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, youth and YOU. Each artist may enter up to four artworks of any medium except glitter (2D or 3D). Artworks must be six inches square (15cm) and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. Participation is free. All artworks will be exhibited and for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through the end of the exhibition on July 23. Limit four artworks per school or school group (no limit for colleges).

The Artist Studios program offers one full-time MAD Artist Fellowship and two part-time Daily Residencies per six-month session (February–August and August–February).

The full-time MAD Artist Fellow receives a $15,000 stipend and dedicated studio space in the Museum. Fellows must commit to a weekly schedule of 21 public “open studio” hours each week on 3 set days in which the museum public can visit. The Fellow’s weekly schedule remains set throughout the six-month residency. In addition to their 21 public “open studio” hours, Fellows are encouraged to utilize the studio space throughout the week for private studio hours. The Artist Fellow also receives a one-time unrestricted $1,000 materials and mentorship stipend at the start of their residency.

The Sovereignty Residency Program includes our July Family Residency. Applications from individuals and collaborations of two people are welcome. Rising: Climate in Crisis Residencies at A Studio in the Woods invites artists to be agents of change in guiding our collective understanding, response, and vision as we shape our shared future.

Artists play a vital role in facing the climate crisis. We encourage artists to guide our collective response to this challenging issue while bringing wisdom, integrity, optimism, and even humor to intentional projects seeking transformation for our species and our planet. Southeast Louisiana’s land and inhabitants are continually challenged by the effects of environmental degradation. As sea levels and temperatures rise, our landscape acts as a microcosm of the global environment. We look for ways to reimagine our interactions with our shifting urban and natural ecosystems. Rising Residencies provide artists with time, space, funding, and staff support to foster critical thinking in the creation of new works – igniting our imaginations while illuminating our challenges and inspiring solutions.

We are open to artists of all disciplines who have demonstrated an established dialogue with environmental and cultural issues. We ask artists to describe in detail how our unique region will affect their work, propose a public component to their residency, and suggest ways how they will engage with the local community.
Residencies are 6 weeks and will take place between September 2023 and May 2024. Flexibility in your dates is appreciated as we try to accommodate everyone’s schedules. You may come over six consecutive weeks or come twice for three-week sessions.

In 2022, Bethany Arts Community identified the need and opportunity to support a longer-term residency specifically for emerging artists from 21-30 years old. In 2023, BAC welcomes their second annual Young Artist Residency, running from July 24 to October 20, 2023.

This residency is designed to offer a creative home to promising artists as they transition and deepen their professional careers and artistic practice. With provided support from BAC, Young Artist Residents will be able to devote uninhibited energy towards creativity.

Young Artist Residents will be in a community of artists and culture workers from a broad range of disciplines, including our Fall Multidisciplinary residents, local studio artists, BAC staff and board members, those presenting programs on campus and more! In addition, YA Residents will be invited to participate in education and enrichment programs, curatorial planning, and peek into the “back-end” of art institutions.

Bethany Arts Community strives to empower the voices of emerging artists in shaping their own careers and future programs at BAC and beyond.

The Young Artist Residency runs for thirteen weeks, July 24 to October 20. Artists are provided room & board, a private studio, and a $250 stipend per week. Meals will only be provided during other residency programs, approximately 5 weeks of the Young Artist Residency. Artist is responsible for transportation to and from BAC.

Studio Visit is a series of juried artist books. Since 2008 we have offered artists a new and effective venue through which to introduce their work to a serious national audience of art world professionals. Each high quality volume of Studio Visit features approximately 150 artists, who have been selected by professional curators. Selected artists will be given the opportunity to redeem a 1-4 page full color spread that includes 1-4 images image, contact information and a brief artist statement, which will be published in two volumes of Studio Visit scheduled to be released in the Fall/Winter of 2023-24.

The South Suburban Park and Recreation District's Public Art Committee (PAC) requests proposals for permanent artwork to be placed at Holly Park, a heavily used community park located at 6652 S Krameria Way, Centennial, CO. $25,000 for all expenses. The park amenities include a recently renovated public pool, tennis center, open space, trails, restrooms, and parking lot. The proposed location for the artwork is within the open space between Little Dry Creek Trail and S Krameria Way, immediately north of the bus stop along E Arapahoe Rd. For maintenance purposes, the artwork and foundation must be at least five feet from boulders, trees or other objects (see the map provided). No entry fee.

The International Artist Residency Pedvale is now officially accepting applicants for the 2023 June Residency programme. Artists are invited to apply for a 4 week long residency. This is the midsummer time. The Midsummer celebration is on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Held annually on June 23/24 it is the largest national celebration in Latvia. Originally Līgo or literally ‘Swaying’, the festival celebrates the importance of the sun, Saule, and ritual bonfires burn through the night across Latvia. In Pedvale contemporary aesthetic rituals overlay the celebration of an ancient cultural ritual.
Applications will be selected and 9 artists will have the opportunity to work creatively. The group will be formed according to a principle so that representatives of different areas would be included – visual artists, writers, dancers, performance artists. Pedvale Art Park & Artist Residency is located two hours northwest of Riga. The spacious territory of almost 100 hectares at Pedvale Art Park is suitable for leisurely walks, during which you can enjoy both the landscape and the art exhibited in the park.

Each year, WaveMaker at Locust Projects awards a total of $60,000 in grant funding to artists across Miami-Dade County in the following three categories:

New Work / Projects: Grants up to $6,000 each to support the creation and presentation of visionary, artist-driven new work / projects.   

Long-Haul Projects: Grants up to $6,000 each to support launching, sustaining, or completing long-term projects. This category recognizes the time and commitment required to pursue long-term artistic endeavors.

R&D + Implementation: Grants up to $2,000 each to support research and development for ambitious new projects that take creative risks or benefit from a longer planning period. After the R&D phase, grantees are encouraged to submit a short-form proposal for an additional $4,000 to implement their projects.

The Connect International Residency is a virtual residency between artists. The program invites the participants to create a new project or innovate an existing project.

It entails 5 virtual meetings between all International and local artists under moderation by Hollie Davis and the Connect fellows.

SHOWCASE:

At the end of the residency artists will display artwork created during the residency at The Beverly Arts Center on Chicago’s southside. The show will be curated by Connect Residency founder Hollie Davis, and will feature both Chicago-based and international artists.

PROGRAM STURCTURE:

The Connect International Artist Residency will meet every on Wednesday for four consecutive weeks, with additional meetings occurring later. Meetings will last two hours, and will be conducted via Google Meet. The goal of the residency is to connect emerging artists in multiple countries, introduce them to role-models and mentors, and to build to an international network of career-artists providing support to one-another.

MEETING STRUCTURE:

Weekly sessions will emphasize studio skills, marketing, community and networking, and more. Each week will include a "skill 15”: a fifteen-minute presentation on a specific professional practice. Past presentations have focused on writing gallery proposals and verbal presentations. The second half of each meeting will consist of two 30-minute guest interviews. Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions. Previous guest speakers include curators from NYC, gallery owners, and an Emmy award winning director.

The exhibition will be at The Beverly Arts Center. The Beverly Arts Center is a community art center in the historic Beverly Morgan Park neighborhood. The space is under the direction of Dr. Carla Carter and hosts plays, summer camps, professional productions, and exhibits some of the most successful artists in Chicago.

The mission of the Studio 23 Visiting Artist Program, through selection of an annual visiting artist, is to enhance the experience of art for our community through exposure to a greater diversity of artists, art media, and artistic styles.

Studio 23 is currently accepting applications for our 2023 Visiting Artist. An exhibit of new work created by the selected artist will be held at Studio 23, in Bay City, Michigan, from August 24 to October 21, 2023.

Application is open to artists who work in all media and styles, with preference for those who meet the program's mission of bringing more diversity to our community.

Deadline for application is Sunday, April 16, 2023, 11:59 p.m.

Requirements of Awarded Artist

Create new art to show in an exhibition opening at Studio 23 on August 24, 2023. Artwork for this exhibit will be created in the artist’s own studio space or facility.

Present one workshop for the community, hosted by Studio 23. The final topic/format of the workshop should be finalized through consultation between the artist, the curator of exhibits, and the curator of education.

Present an artist lecture/discussion or demonstration open to the community and hosted by Studio 23.

Visiting Artist Funding

The selected artist will receive an honorarium of $5,000 to cover all expenses of the artist specific and/or related to the Visiting Artist’s exhibit at Studio 23, including:

Creation and preparation of new artwork for the exhibit

Submissions for New York Office residency are now open

Residency Details

This residency is open to emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines across New York City. For four months the artists-in-residence will be given a studio in the Quinn Emanuel New York office to support their existing practice or a new project as appropriate.

At the end of the residency an exhibition will be held to display the works of the artist and at least one work will be incorporated into the permanent collection. The exhibition will be held in a location deemed appropriate for the work decided on between the artists and curator.

Residency Period
The residency will begin May 22, 2023 and conclude on August 25, 2023.

Space & Support
The artist-in-residence will have access to an office in a historic building across from Madison Square Park with a vibrant food and drink scene. The office will be available 24/7 and is close to the 6, N, Q, R and W trains.

Compensation
The artist-in-residence will receive $5,000 a month over the course of four months for a total of $20,000. In addition, Quinn Emanuel will provide an allowance of up to $1,500 for purchase of art materials.

Exhibition
After the residency is completed, an exhibition of the work will be mounted in a place decided on with the help of curator Alexis Hyde. Sales of the work will be determined in conversation as well.

The AWAW EAG will support environmental art projects that inspire thought, action, and ethical engagement. Projects should not only point at problems, but aim to engage an environmental issue at some scale. Proposals should illustrate thorough consideration of a project’s ecological and social ethics. Projects that explore interdependence, relationships, and systems through Indigenous and ancestral practices are encouraged to apply.

The Abbey Mural Prize was created in 1932 in honor of muralist Edwin Austin Abbey NA to support the creation and restoration of public murals in the United States. Each year, the National Academy of Design awards grants to create or restore public murals – especially those that promote accessibility, serve local audiences, and inspire community dialogue

The Blake School in Hopkins, MN seeks proposals for the McGuire Visiting Artist Residency, 2+ weeks between September 2023 and May 2024. $4,000 to $6,500+ will be awarded. This biennial residency program funds visual artists who collaborate with Blake School K-12 students and faculty. Each residency allows the Blake community to learn from an artist's unique talents, experiences, and approaches to creating art, learning, and teaching. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art). Artists may submit proposals to work with a single division (Lower School, Middle School or Upper School) or create a thematic link across the three divisions.

They Call Us is a literary magazine created by powerful people wanting to empower gender minorities.

Women’s anger carries a certain social stigma. If we vent, we gossip. If we complain, we bitch. If we get sassy, we get catty. Yet, throughout history, gossip and catty remarks have been a means of reclaiming power, from outing dangerous men in charge to giving side eye to whoever wore white to my best friend’s wedding. Unfortunately, that same anger can be directed toward each other. We were all raised in a misogynistic society and sometimes we weaponize our anger and are taught sexism to harm our fellow women. They Call Us Catty is a place for gender minorities to let out their claws, challenge the stigma of our anger, and explore the complexities of our relationships.

THEME: Aging Well for All—Celebrating the Strength and Wisdom of Women

The National Council on Aging is happy to invite photographers/visual artists to share stories of older women who continue to embrace their lives and contribute to their families and communities as they age. While statistically women live longer than men, they often face unique challenges related to health and financial security. NCOA is working to ensure all women have the resources they need to age well. This contest aims to provide a platform to foster dialogue, artistic expression, and drive innovation in the photographic arts toward the goal of aging well for all.

Bethany Arts Community offers residencies to emerging and established artists for the development of both new works and works-in-progress. BAC welcomes artists working across many disciplines and mediums, including visual artists, sculptors, writers, playwrights, choreographers, musicians, composers, performance artists, filmmakers, and more. Enjoy an environment where artists from different disciplines and walks of life can work in community and near each other, creating opportunities for generative collaboration and cross-pollination.

Residents will be surrounded by uninhibited creativity during their time at BAC, in the form of other Multidisciplinary Residents, local studio artists, BAC staff and board members, those presenting programs on campus, and more!

A unique component of residencies at BAC is the Community Program. As part of a residency, we ask each artist to develop and facilitate a Community Program related to their residency plan. This part of the residency is an opportunity for artists to engage with the local community in Ossining and Westchester County, and for the local community to engage with artists through their work.

The Fall Multidisciplinary Residency runs for two sessions, September 25 to October 9 and October 2 to October 16, each with its own cohort. Artists are provided room & board, a private studio conducive to artists’ medium and/or project, 3 basic meals a day, and a $225 stipend per week upon completion of the residency. Artist is responsible for transportation to and from BAC.

Artist team applications will only be considered for groups up to 3 members.

The Burke Prize is a biannual contemporary art prize for a new generation of artists working in a world of expanded media with a foundation in glass, fiber, clay, metal, or wood.

The Future Generation Art Prize is a biannual global contemporary art prize to discover, recognize and give long-term support to a future generation of artists. Established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, the Prize supported the artistic development and production of new works of over 100 artists in exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv and as official collateral events at the Venice Biennale in 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2019.

Arts & Education at The Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle, PA seeks solo exhibition proposals. All 2D and 3D mediums will be considered.
