It is about this time every winter where I am counting down the days until Spring. I love to see everything come back alive after all the chilly days (well, as chilly as we get in Queensland).
I started this painting on a particularly dreary day and needed some cheeriness in my life. The shapes form a blooming tree full of flowing flowers and the colour scheme is unapologetically bright and colourful.
It is full of several different aquas, deep prussian blue with highlights of an intense cobalt blue. There is, of course, lashings of pinks for the florals and intense cadmium orange with a softer australian salmon pink. There is quite of few shades of australian yellow-green, turmeric yellow, lilac sweet pea, metallic rich gold and white. Plus, lots of other colours thrown into the mix as well.
