I know you are looking at Beatrice and thinking "Really, is she a 'black' cockatoo?"... She sure is! If you have ever looked at a black cockatoo in the sunlight, their feathers are a beautiful blueish colour – Beatrice is my interpretation of a female black cockatoo in the sunlight (OK, I admit, I have used a lot of artistic license with my choice of colours 😂).
Her feathers are full of bright blues and aquas, blue black, grey blue, pastel pink, white and lashings of red. The yellow spots are rich gold sienna with indian yellow, bright yellow and white. Beatrice's beak is lots of different purples with highlights of fluro pink, orange, arctic blue, rose pink and white. Plus, lots of other colours thrown into the mix as well.
Black Cockatoo Fun Fact: They sound like a car alarm when singing to attract a mate.
PS. Please take the time to look at the close-up images - this will really show you how much detail and colour is in the artwork.
