It's no secret I like painting Smuggler's Notch. While working on an autumn piece in my studio recently I was invited to join some artists friends to go plein-air painting with them at the notch. So off I went. While the color that usually comes with spring had not fully found it's way into the notch just yet there was enough interest to put together this little piece. I like the purple in the late winter hillside contrasted with the golden colors in the marsh grass. It was fun to see what I could do in just a few hours to capture some of the texture of the landscape on a small panel.
