I have always admired tonal works by other artists and wanted to try something a little more tonal myself. So this is my first attempt as a "tonal" painting, if it qualifies. The simplicity of a group of trees in the evening light with the full moon rising behind them is a common subject for many artists. Something about that full, or almost full, rising moon as the evening light colors the sky makes for a compelling subject. Adding just a hint of that last bit of sun hitting the tops of the trees adds a nice bit of warmth.
